Thanks to MPT for publishing a sample of Volker Braun's Coronavirus cycle 'Grosse Fugue' or 'Great Fugue'. Written in March /April 2020 and due to appear in Germany this May.
So pleased to see this poem from the cycle, 'Handshake', appear in English. These are experimental, uncompromising poems that see the virus as symtpomatic of the global, ecological-political crisis of late capitalism. Powerful stuff. I hope to be able to anounce something about the future of these poems in English before too long. But in the meantime thanks to MPT and see you at the launch to the volume on 22 April.
