Mediating Modern Poetry has worked with Poet in the City to bring young German writers to the UK in a series called 'Perspectives on Poetry'. The first visitor in February -March 2015 was Ulrike Almut Sandig. She brought her innovative mix of performance, sound art, poetry and film to various venues in the UK (London, Leeds, Sheffield, Nottingham Lancaster, Oxford) and was accompanied by musician and sound engineer Sebastian Reuter. This was new poetry and newly commissioned translations, along with sound pieces specially commissioned for the tour. She also engaged in translation workshops with Karen Leeder for translators and students and Year 13 students of German. Special highlights included a fantastic performance in Richmix in London, beng part of Nottingham University's 'Encounters' series which brings writers and their translators together, and being welcomed by Authors and the World in Lancaster.
