Witty, wry and elegant, the poetry of Durs Grünbein has made him one of Germany’s most celebrated contemporary voices and earned Grünbein and translator, Karen Leeder, the prestigious Griffin Prize. Grünbein has published more than thirty books of poetry and prose, translated into dozens of languages, and his work has been described by Sasha Dugdale as “always a joy to read,” rising at its best to “unforgettable magnificence.” Leeder has been hailed as one of the premier translators of poetry at the present time, with her translations praised for carrying Grünbein’s work across languages as a “sheer cross-cultural cornucopia” of joy, pain, wistfulness and meditative relief. Together they take the stage to share poems and discuss the collaborative, intimate work of translation.
